Biography

Engr. Muhammad Rashed Al Mamun, PhD, successfully completed his B.Sc in Agricultural Engineering and MS in Farm Power and Machinery from the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology at Bangladesh Agricultural University, which was established with academic support from Texas A&M University in 1961. He received his PhD in advanced technology from Kumamoto University, Japan. Dr. Al Mamun also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Kyushu University, Japan, enhancing his expertise in cutting-edge agricultural technologies. Presently, Dr. Al Mamun is working as an Academic Researcher and Specially Appointed Professor in the Faculty of Agriculture and the Education and Research Center for Mathematical and Data Science at Kyushu University, Japan. He is also an Invited Professor in the Laboratory of Agricultural Machinery and Production Systems Design within the Department of Agro-environmental Sciences at Kyushu University. Dr. Al Mamun is a Professor in the Department of Farm Power and Machinery, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology at Sylhet Agricultural University, Sylhet, Bangladesh. Prior to this position, he has working as Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and Lecturer for the same University and Agricultural Engineer in Ministry of Agriculture, Bangladesh. He also worked as Research Scientist in Groundwater Leadership Program (GelK), and Guest Lecturer in Kumamoto University, Japan, Visiting Professor at Ashoka Institute of Technology and Sreyas Institute of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad, and Shree Devi Institute of Technology, Mangalore, India, Visiting Professor at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Forestry Science and Technology School, Agricultural Training Institute, University of Creative Technology Chittagong, Bangladesh. Dr. Al Mamun’s research concentrate on Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering major focuses towards advanced precision agriculture and renewable energy through numerical modeling and sensor development for power generation and sustainable agricultural production, post-harvest handling and food safety. My current research involved simultaneously in different research projects such as precision agriculture, plant Phenotyping, hyperspectral Image Processing, agricultural machinery, image processing, post-harvest technology, agricultural mechanization, bioenergy, solar energy, solid waste management, smart irrigation system, vertical farming, poultry incubation system and environment management, tea processing technology, GIS based agricultural policy management and hydrology. Dr. Al Mamun teaches Heat Engines, Agricultural Power, Agricultural Machinery, Agricultural Mechanization, Heat and Mass Transfer, Precision Agriculture, Bio-Materials and Systems, Project Planning and Evaluation, Engineering Management, Machine Design, Elements of Agricultural engineering and Farm Mechanics in the undergraduate course of studies. In the graduate program, he teaches Farm Machinery, Agricultural Research Methodology, Farm Power, Instrumentation Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems, Soil Implement Mechanics and Bioresources Engineering. Besides teaching activities, he performs research and supervises graduate and post-graduate students in the field of renewable energy, farm machinery, solid waste management, image processing, vertical farming, Poultry Incubation System and Environment Management and farm mechanization. His research articles have published in the many reputed journals and written a book on Renewable Energy. He chaired a conference and many technical sessions at International Conference. He has achieved Kumamoto University President Award, Sylhet Agricultural University Best Publication Award, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia award for Environmental Management in the Islamic World and Venus International Research Award for Outstanding Scientist in Farm Power and Machinery and Excellent paper awards from different conferences.
