Md Bashir Uddin was born in Narsingdi, Bangladesh in 1976. He received his Ph.D. from College of Veterinary Medicine, Chungnam National University, South Korea in 2017. His doctoral research was supervised by Professor Jong-Soo Lee and focused on the newly isolated probiotic microorganisms to delineate the immunological potential of novel candidate probiotic strains against viruses. His research also focused to explore the potential roles of Foot-and-Mouth disease virus 2B protein in type-I interferon (IFN) pathway. In addition, his research relates to the natural extracts for the development of safe, effective and inexpensive antiviral drugs which can significantly enhance vaccine/mucosal immunization and antimicrobial drug development efforts. He previously completed MS in (Veterinary) Medicine at Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) in 2009. He graduated from Sylhet Government Veterinary College (SGVC) under the School of Life Sciences of Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh with DVM degree and was awarded the 2007 Vice-Chancellor Gold Medal. In his postgraduate (MS) study, Dr. Bashir was trained in Epidemiology under the supervision of Professor Dr. Syed Sayeem Uddin Ahmed. Later, he joined a research group at the Department of Pathology & Parasitology at CVASU as a Scientific Officer. In October 2008, he had the opportunity to work as Additional Veterinary Surgeon (AVS) in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Afterwards, he returned to his mother University to join the faculty and currently is an Associate Professor at the Department of (Veterinary) Medicine, Sylhet Agricultural University. He has authored or co-authored of 1 book chapter and over 20 peer-reviewed research publications in high impact journals including PloS Pathogens, Journal of Virology, Journal of Microbiology and has presented his research at both national and international conferences. He has served as a reviewer for many of journals in the field of Molecular Biology and managing editor of International Journal of Natural Sciences (iJNS). In addition to research, Mr. Bashir enjoys and being actively involved with several professional organizations. His research interest lies in the field of Immunology (Innate Immunity), Virology, Epidemiology, Wildlife and Zoonoses. Dr. Bashir intends to become an independent investigator, directing a laboratory at the interface of Molecular and Cell biology.
