Biography

Md. Altaf Hossain is working as a Professor in the Department of Agricultural Construction and Environmental Engineering under the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU), Bangladesh. He has been serving as the Chairman of the department since November 2013 to date. Mr. Hossain completed his B.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh in the year 1990. He received his Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1998 and graduated with a Ph.D. in Numerical Modeling from the Laboratory of Agricultural Hydro-technics and Construction Engineering, The United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Iwate University, Morioka, Japan in 2004. Mr. Hossain also spent a brief spell as a teaching assistant at Iwate University. He has a significant number of research publications in national and international journals in his field of interest. As a faculty of the university, he supervises graduate level thesis work on Low-cost housing, Rural road networking, Bridge and culvert construction, Hydraulic structure, Storage structure, Climate change, Water pollution & treatment plant, and Water supply and sanitation distribution network, as well as the undergraduate courses, includes basic subjects on Agricultural civil (such as Surveying, Engineering drawing, Soil mechanics, Concrete structure design, etc.) and environmental engineering.
