Biography

Mr Md Nazmul Hossain is working as a PhD Fellow at The University of Birmingham, UK under Bangabandhu Science and Technology Fellowship of The Government of The People's Republic of Bangladesh. His present research underlying pre-mRNA processing using Schizosaccharomyces pombe as a model organism. Mr. Hossain was born in 1986 at Joypurhat district of Bangladesh. He completed his BSc and MS (Thesis) from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh in 2010 and 2012 respectively. He was captivated in research during first introduction to his MS thesis titled “PCR based detection of virulent genes and pathogenesis of Edwardsiella spp. isolates causing fish diseases in Bangladesh” under the supervision of Professor Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman (BSMRAU, Bangladesh). Upon completion of his MS, he was selected as a Research Fellow under Professor Mafij Uddin Ahmed Fellowship (October 2013) of Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) and conducted research in nutritional analysis of fish and fishery products. He joined as a Research Officer (June 2015) at Virology Laboratory of International Centre for Diarrheal Diseases and Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) where he conducted research in genotyping of respiratory viruses. From December 2015, Mr. Hossain has been working as a faculty member at The Department of Microbial Biotechnology of Sylhet Agricultural University.
