Biography

Dr. Ashutus Singha was born on the 9th day of December 1987, in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar, Bangladesh. He is 2nd among the three Children of Arun Kumar Sinha and Prativa Sinha. He completed his secondary school at Dayamoy Singh High School, Kamalganj, in 2004 and his higher secondary education at Kamalganj College in 2006. He was awarded a fellowship at both the primary and secondary levels. In 2007, he was admitted to Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, and obtained his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering in 2011 and his Master of Science in Irrigation and Water Management at the same university in 2013. The same year, he was appointed as a Lecturer in the Department of Irrigation and Water Management at Sylhet Agricultural University. In 2015, he was promoted to Assistant Professor in the same department. He was awarded a fellowship for the International Training Programme " Technology for Integrated Water Management" organized by the University of Antwerp, in co-operation with Ghent University Financially Supported by VLIR-UOS (Belgium). Dr. Singha furthered his expertise by completing his Ph.D. in Environmental and Sustainable Development in Agriculture at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. His research focuses on critical areas such as drought priming, salinity acclimation, irrigation, and IoT-based smart farming. With over 35 published articles, he has significantly contributed to the field of sustainable agriculture. He has also been the Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) for 8 research projects funded by SAURES and UGC Research Grants. Dr. Singha's dedication to academic excellence and innovation has seen him participate in over 25 international conferences and workshops. He continues to lead efforts in irrigation and water resource management, addressing the challenges posed by climate change and resource scarcity, while inspiring the next generation of agricultural engineers.
