Biography

Ir. Md. Nur Mozahid is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Policy in Sylhet Agricultural University, Sylhet, Bangladesh. Before that, he was a Lecturer at the same department. In 2019, he gained the prestigious Netherlands Government Fellowship (NFP) for the research master’s program at Wageningen University and Research (WUR), The Netherlands on Environmental Economics and Policy. Mozahid’s work has explored the economic approach for sustainable management of natural and environmental resources (mangrove and wetland) with a particular focus on climate change and in developing countries. He has conducted several studies based on non-market valuation, experimental and behavioural economics. Mozahid has also ended up with a number of studies on payment for ecosystem services and sustainable use of mangrove forests based on the interplay with natural resource users and related stakeholders. His work appears in a number of Scopus journals including Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Trees Forest and People, Arabian Journal of Geosciences, African Journal of Science, Technology, Innovation and Development and Forest Policy and Economics. Mozahid is presently working as a Lead Investigator on “Sundarban Mangrove Conservation Project” funded by the University Grant Commission (UGC), People's Republic of Bangladesh. His research focuses on the monetary and non-monetary approaches to improving public and private management of environmental and natural resources. Some Specific areas of interest include: • Environmental valuation methods (Contingent valuation Method and Choice Experiments) • Behavioral and experimental insights for designing green growth • Design, financing and evaluation of payment for ecosystem services (Mangroves and Wetlands) • Agricultural and resource economics; and • Application of econometric/advanced econometric tools in the areas mentioned above.
