from the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) visited Sylhet Agricultural
University (SAU) and met the Honorable Vice Chancellor of SAU, Professor DR.
Jamal Uddin Bhuiyan, on May 2, 2023. The delegation from BAEC comprises highly
accomplished scientists, Dr. Farzana Yesmin, Chief Scientific Officer and Group
Leader, Cytology and Biocontrol Research (CBR) and Dr. Md Hasanuzzaman,
Principal Scientific Officer, Cytology and Biocontrol Research (CBR), Radiation
Entomology and Acarology Division. Dean of Faculty of Postgraduate Studies,
Prof. Dr. Kazi Mehetazul Islam, Proctor of SAU, Prof. Dr. Md. Monirul Islam,
Student Advisor of SAU, Prof. Dr. Md. Mostafa Shamsuzzaman, also joined the
meeting. The meeting was led by Dr. Tilak Chandra Nath, Director, External
Affairs, SAU. Both BAEC and SAU are committed to advancing agricultural
research and development to address the evolving needs of the agricultural
sector in Bangladesh. This collaborative effort is expected to pave the way for
future partnerships and joint projects that will contribute to sustainable
agricultural practices and the overall development of the country. The primary
objective of this visit is to explore potential areas of cooperation between
BAEC and SAU in harnessing the benefits of nuclear technology for agriculture. This
visit marks an important collaboration between the two institutions in their
shared pursuit of advancements in agricultural research and development.
