Dr. Jasim Uddin Ahmed is the Chairman of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Policy at Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU), Bangladesh. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics (Honors) and Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Bangladesh. He has also completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the Department of Agribusiness and Marketing under the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at BAU, Bangladesh. He started his teaching career as a Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) on December 30, 2003. He has successfully completed several research projects funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, World Bank, European Union (EU), National Science and Technology (NST), Krishi Gobeshona Foundation (KGF), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC), Sylhet Agricultural University Research System (SAURES), etc. To date, he has supervised research projects of 62 Master’s Students and one PhD student. Currently, 03 Doctoral and 10 Master’s students are doing their research under his supervision. Mr. Ahmed authored and co-authored more than 84 peer-reviewed publications and wrote a reference book on Agribusiness Management in Bangladesh. He presented his research achievements at many national and international scientific conferences. In recognition of his research accomplishment, he received the best publication award in 2019 from Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) and also received the Hakaluki Camp Award 2022 and Certificate of Achievement for Climate Change-related research activities. Mr. Ahmed holds several professional and affiliate memberships both nationally and internationally. He has been serving as a Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Policy at Sylhet Agricultural University since May 20, 2016, and as a Proctor from October 29, 2024, to January 31, 2026. His research interests include Haor, char, and hilly agriculture; integrated farming and farm management; environmental economics and climate change; and livestock economics. He is married to Shahnaj Begum Shila, Associate Professor in the Department of Botany at MC College, Sylhet, and is blessed with a daughter, Sanika Eshal Rimsha, and a son, Safwan Jawad Rahil
