As a JSPS Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of Tokyo, Japan, I have involved the research entitled "Characterization of novel genes for the development of low nutrient tolerant and mineral-rich rice". During the tenure (2023-2025), ionomic GWAS (Genome-wide association studies) using 192 indica rice for seed Ni(nickel) content in brown rice were employed and identified SNP-associated region on chromosome 11. Total 9 allelic mutants of transcription factor OsMYBAS1 in the locus Os11g0700500 have been generated by CRISPR/Cas9 genome edited technology. Subsequent molecular functional analysis results suggested that OsMYBAS1 may act as negative regulator of P and Mg transportation and even this gene also corelate Ni accumulation in root under K deficient condition, accelerating to developed low nutrient tolerant rice. I did my PhD in Agricultural Science from Kyoto University, Japan under JSPS Research Fellowships for Young Scientists (DC-2) program. In the PhD tenure, I studied the two major seed storage protein of Buckwheat, 2S albumin and 13S globulin those are allergenic to human health. I successfully identified and characterized the useful alleles for both 13S globulin and 2S albumin genes which are the essential materials to develop less allergenic buckwheat. Before that I received my Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Hons.) degree from the Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh in 2004. And also did my MS degree in Biotechnology from the same university in 2007. Then I started my research career as a Lecturer in the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Sylhet Agricultural University on 24th August 2010 which position was upgraded to Assistant Professor on 24th August, 2012 and continued up to 23rd August, 2019. On 24th August 2019, my professional position was upgraded as an Associate Professor and since 24th August 2022, I served as a Professor in the same department. Moreover, to upgrade my research knowledge in the field of my interest, I am acting as a reviewer in the top-tier journals like BMC Plant Biology, Food Chemistry: Molecular Sciences, Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, The Plant Genome, Agronomy Journal, Crop Science Journal, Journal of Agriculture and Food Research, ACS Food Science & Technology, Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution, Gene Reports, Discover Food, International Journal of Agronomy, Journal of Horticultural Sciences, Plant Science Today, etc. I am acting as an editor-in-chief 'Scholastic Agriculture Journal', executive editor in 'Journal of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences' and 'Asian Plant Research Journal' and also as an editorial board member in the journal 'Journal of Tropical Crop Science, Acta Scientific Agriculture, NL Journal of Agriculture and Biotechnology etc.
