Biography

Md. Mukter Hossain was born in Bogura district of Bangladesh in 1977. He graduated from Sylhet Government Veterinary College (SGVC) under the School of Life Sciences, Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh with DVM degree in 2003. He completed his MS in (Veterinary) Medicine from the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences, Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU), Sylhet in 2008. In his postgraduate (MSc) study, Dr. Hossain went to the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM), Belgium in 2009. He received his Ph.D. from College of Veterinary Medicine, Chonbuk National University, South Korea in 2015. Afterward, he returned to his mother University to join the faculty and currently is working as a Professor at the Department of (Veterinary) Medicine, Sylhet Agricultural University. In addition, Dr. Hossain was trained on "Disease Control and Prevention and Pedagogic Skill" organized by Faculty, Cummings school of Veterinary Medicine, Tufts University, USA. Dr. Hossain also trained on “Good Research Practice 2012” organized by the Veterinary Research Institute, Brno, Czech Republic. Md. Mukter Hossain has authored or co-authored 69 peer-reviewed research publications in high impact journals and has presented his research at both national and international conferences. He has served as a reviewer for many journals in the field of Molecular Diagnostic Medicine and Chief Editor of International Journal of Natural Sciences (IJNS), a peer-reviewed journal regularly published from the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences, Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU), Sylhet since 2011. His research interest lies in the field of Molecular Diagnostics, Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology and Zoonoses, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). Dr. Hossain joined his previous laboratory in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Chonbuk National University, South Korea and completed post-doctorate study in 2019.
