Biography

Dabasis Sharma was born on 15th October 1994 in Moulvibazar district of Bangladesh. After completing Secondary and Higher Secondary examination with Golden GPA 5, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics with distinction (First class first position) from Sylhet Agricultural University in 2017 (exam held in 2018). Following that, he obtained his Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics (Agribusiness and Marketing) from Bangladesh Agricultural University in 2019 and jointly secured first class first position. During that time he worked as Research Assistant in several projects on food system and safety, nutritional aspects, value chain and agricultural diversification. Mr. Sharma has been awarded the prestigious Prime Minister Gold Medal in 2018. Apart from that, he received various scholarship and awards throughout his academic and professional career. Among them, UGC research grant, NST fellowship, Board scholarship at both secondary and higher secondary level, Government scholarship at both primary and junior level, cultural award from different organizations are mentionable. In 2021, he was appointed as a Lecturer at the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Business Management in Sylhet Agricultural University and subsequently promoted to Assistant Professor in 2023 of the same department. As a PI (Principal Investigator), Mr. Sharma is currently conducting a project funded by UGC. He also contributed in preparing a Training Manual on “Business Management Skills” under Smallholder Agricultural Competitiveness Project of DAM, MOA and FAO. By enriching his knowledge in research arena, he wants to make a positive impact on the economy.
