Biography
Dr. Sabiha Sultana Marine is a Professor in the Department of Fisheries Technology and Quality Control at Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU), Bangladesh. She previously served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia, where she worked as a Project Leader for a coastal wetland restoration project funded by Deakin University’s industry partner, BHP Group. She also successfully completed a spider crab research project funded by the Victorian Government’s Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA). Before joining Deakin University as a postdoctoral scholar, she served as a Casual Academic and Research Officer at Central Queensland University. Dr. Marine completed her BSc (Honours) in Fisheries Science and MS in Fisheries Technology and Quality Control from Sylhet Agricultural University, and earned her PhD in Fisheries Science from Central Queensland University, Australia. During her PhD, she was awarded two prestigious Research Training Program (RTP) scholarships from Queensland University of Technology and Central Queensland University, Australia. Her research focuses on the social, ecological, and economic dimensions of freshwater, coastal, and marine resources. Her research interests include fish processing and preservation, value addition of fish products, sustainable fisheries management, non-market valuation, environmental and resource economics, and applied econometric modelling techniques. Dr. Marine has published 18 peer-reviewed research articles, with several additional articles currently under review. She is a member of the Australasian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society (AARES) and has actively participated in national and international conferences and seminars. She is currently engaged in teaching, research supervision, and academic leadership at Sylhet Agricultural University, and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students in Fisheries Science.
